Ian Forbes is a Scottish cinematographer with British and Irish EU passports and based in London. Recent film and TV credits include Sky Cinema feature film INTO THE DEEP directed by Kate Cox, 2nd Unit DoP on Amazon and World Productions TV series FIFTEEN LOVE and 2nd Unit DoP on the Netflix and See-Saw Films hit TV series HEARTSTOPPER.

Short film credits include the BAFTA and BIFA award-winning stop-motion short film EDMOND directed by Nina Gantz. THE SERMON, a folk-horror directed by Dean Puckett which premiered at BFI Flare Film Festival going on to play at a number of festivals including Palm Springs, Hollyshorts and Sitges Film Festival.

Ian holds a masters degree from the UK National Film & Television School supported by a BAFTA Scholarship. He was tutored by Brian Tufano BSC, Stuart Harris, Nina Kellgren BSC and Sean Bobbitt BSC. Through the scholarship Ian was mentored by Ben Davis BSC and in 2020 Ian received mentorship from Philipp Blaubach BSC through the BSC/ACO Mentoring Programme.

Film festival screenings include Sundance, SXSW, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Palm Springs, Encounters, Annecy & Camerimage.
